ONTV Orientation

It’s time for you to take control and to create programs the way you want them to be. The first step in the process is to sign up for a free ONTV Orientation Session. Learn about the possibilities available at our facility. Then register for one of our production courses.

Courses in Field Production and Studio Production are designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of program production and to acquire the basic training needed to use ONTV equipment. At ONTV, we also believe that building media literacy skills is important and this is incorporated into all of our classes. It is through these training sessions that we get to know our participants – a critical component of our certification process and the lending of equipment. It must be understood that certification to use the facilities and equipment at ONTV is for the sole purpose of making non-commercial programs to be cablecast on ONTV.

Field Production
Field Production is a three-session hands-on course covering essential vocabulary, camcorder use, production techniques, and an introduction to editing. (Participants may bring and use their own camcorders.) Upon successful completion of this course, participants will become certified to use ONTV field production equipment. A fee of $10.00 will be collected at the first session.

Studio Production
Studio Production is a four-session hands-on course covering the basics of program production in the ONTV studio. Terminology, pre-production planning, studio set-up, operating studio equipment (cameras, audio and video mixers, character generator,) basic directing and performing are some of the topics covered in this introductory class. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will become certified to use the ONTV studio. A fee of $10.00 will be collected at the first session.

Various workshops and refresher sessions will be scheduled according to the needs of our certified participants and as time allows.
